20230107 Update on the anti-drag show protests and background information.
PTK is on the move. Mailings asking for solidarity with the LGBT have been sent out. Important background info. Seems the Elm Fork JB Gun Club is the only ones really fighting PTK.
Get the word out, share.
There is a lot happening and a lot to know and so it will be in sections. For background information see the links to the posts at the end of the newsletter. Forgive the grammatical monstrosities, I finally recovered from the dentist visit anesthesia and I am getting this out in the middle of the night. This is the link to our petition. https://chng.it/2qS2RcZq
Mobilization and Real News coverage is happening outside the LGBTQ+ establishment.
Antifa
https://twitter.com/elmforkJBGC
This is an article, “Why Queer Communities Are Welcoming Armed Antifascist Protection,” and I think that this article shows that it is Antifa from which we might get protection. whereas the LGBTQ+ establishment is not realizing the imminent danger.

Locally the Elm Fork John Brown Gun Club is showing up to provide protection. At this time, they are the only ones doing any real organizing that I can tell. I am trying to alert the LGBT in general, and I am doing what I can, and I will be there, but at this point I am not expecting that I am able to do much.
The Elm Fork John Brown Gun Club is doing 99% of the activism.
They are doing it in the face of really aggressive counter actions by the Protect Texas Kids, (PTK), which has a webpage to dox them and as I see it, go after their employment and situations.

Local media is largely not reporting on them. I am going to make sure their activities are reported. I do find them a little scary, but I find PTK scarier. I hope to meet them at the counter-protest. I do believe in united front actions to protect the community.
My newsletter will report the news. The Elm Fork John Brown Gun Club is the news and at this time the only group really doing anything.
At the end of this newsletter will be a link to a post on how they were largely erased from the news by the local “LGBT” media.
Dallas Voice & Stonewall Democratic Page
For the Stonewall Page it is about their dinner and local officials taking office and a link to a Dallas Voice article about the attack on trans in the legislature.

This is the Dallas Voice issue.

There is no reporting on the upcoming PTK protest and it seems no one is planning a counter protest at the drag show.
It is all about legislation and lobbying.
This is the Stonewall Democrats page and it is about legislation and the election of new officers and nothing about the protest.

Being organized against anti-LGBTQ bills is good, but ignoring an active local group endangering the community is not good.
I am finding a total absence of any idea that street action is necessary or there needs to be mobilization of the community.
The following is a link to an article in D Magazine, which is online and is from 1996. I think it shows the mentality to some extent in the local LGBTQ establishment.

Other reporting on what is happening.
This is a link to a Texas Observer article on the protest at the Grand Prairie Christmas drag show.

The same article was republished in the Monthly Review.

The Dallas Morning News had a fairly good report on the protest in Grand Prairie and with good video. They mentioned the presence of the Elm Fork Gun Club and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. If the Dallas Voice reported on this, I missed it.
What is really interesting about this protest and counter-protest is that there were no LGBT+ identified groups there supporting the counter-protest.
PTK is on the move.
They are reporting their Instagram post for the protest. If you haven’t seen it, this is it.
And the protest was mentioned in their Jan. 4, 2023 newsletter that just went out.

The alert on Reddit reached a lot of people.
It has now has 59.9k views, 62 shares, and 475 comments. What was really interesting was the strength of the opposition. There are 306 upvotes with only a 66% upvote rate. What is means is that there were 612 people voting for it, but 306 voting against it.
There was harrassment by the opposition reporting me to some Reddit suicide thing.
I tried to do an update earlier this week, but my return address was in the pictures and so it violated one of Reddit’s rules. There wasn’t a way for them to know it was my own address, but it is probably a rule violation anyways.
I am going to do another Reddit post as soon as this newsletter is done.
Other media has been so-so.
Special Thanks to Party on the Block.
They allowed a post on the protest by myself. Normally they don’t do that.

Mobilization by Dallas Gay Liberation
I am calling on officials to support the counter protest.
I am writing elected officials to either be at the counter protest or send a representative.
I did get in contact with Venton Jones on twitter and gave him info, and he tweeted his email and I emailed him the information on 1/5/2022. Newly elected he doesn’t have an official district office. I haven’t heard back. I screen captured everything for the record.
Unable to contact with Congressional Rep. Jasmine Crockett. I emailed her campaign email on 1/4/2022. On 1/7/2023 I replied to a post on her Facebook about the counter protest, and I put in a comment at a Twitter post. No reply back.
Further you can fill out a contact form at her Congressional webpage. HOWEVER, though it is labeled an email contact, it is just a form, and even though you provide an email to fill out the form, when you send the message, no copy of the message is sent to you. There is no record.
I mailed the first set of letters by certified mail to the Dallas Mayor and City Council and the Dallas County Commissioners on 1/3/2023, and the 2nd set of letters to Congressional Representatives, Texas State Senators, and Texas State Representatives on 1/7/2023. Even if their district just had a small part of Dallas they got a certified letter.
I am planning other actions. I am thinking of asking the consulate representatives to come as foreign Human Rights Observers. I want to contact some civic leaders.
My plan on the day of the counter-protest. My goal.
I plan to do live broadcasts on TikTok and Facebook and I plan to do video and photo documentation of all the opposition and also how the Dallas LGBTQ responds. I will make point on reporting on the Elm Fork John Brown Gun Club to make sure the community understands who is taking action to protect them.
I could use some help. While I am reporting it would be helpful to have someone hold the Dallas Gay Liberation sign. Also, I would like to get some interest in getting a Harvey Milk St. going past First Dallas Baptist Church. I am still doing reports on them. I will put links to the posts at the end of this article.
My goals are two: 1) Link up with other activist groups; 2) Get an activist group mobilized out of people that show up and not in a group.
I will be wearing a Lil Nas X t-shirt.
