The arrest is of a North Texas Imam Wisam Sharieff, of the AlMaghrib Islamic education group. The homophobia of this group isn’t mentioned at all.

AlMaghrib and its homophobia.
The position seems to be that they don’t approve, but they don’t approve of bigotry against LGBTQ. It is the New Homophobia.
“Is Islam Homophobic,” the answer is yes according to this video by the AlMaghrib Institute

It is an online course, “Islamic Solutions for Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Wellbeing.”
It is described as follows:
In An Interactive Online Course With Dr. Omar Suleiman, Dr. Omar Husain, and Sr. Sarah Sultan [Boldface added.]
For Dr. Omar Suleiman there is a picture and his bio:
Dr Omar Suleiman’s accolades speak for themselves. He’s a professor of Islamic Studies at Southern Methodist University, resident scholar at Valley Ranch Islamic Center and President of Yaqeen Institute.
As a valued AlMaghrib instructor who has taught Islamic Studies at the university level since 2008, Dr Omar brings his understanding of the science of Tazkiyah (Islamic spirituality) and signature eloquence to the course.
This explains what the course is about. Homosexuality is lumped in with drug addiction, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, mental health trauma.
When I searched their website with the term “same-sex” or “same sex” nothing turned up, because this is an image. Also, using a long list of terms you won’t find any homophobia at their website either.
Omar Suleiman isn’t on the cover page, but he is shown in the video.
You will see Omar Suleiman at 0:32 and at 1:18. They don’t mention homosexuality.
The video is also at Facebook.

He runs his own homophobic institute.
Involved with a major statement against homosexuality.
5 Pillars, 5/24/2023, North American scholars defend normative Islamic postion on LGBTQ.
It seems everyday Muslims are not wanting to be homophobic and the leadership is trying to get them back inline with their homophobic beliefs.
Public discourse on sexuality over the past few decades has presented challenges to faith communities. Today, Islamic sexual and gender ethics are at odds with certain recently popular societal views, causing tension for Muslims between their religious beliefs and societal expectations. At the same time, public disapproval of LGBTQ practices, beliefs, and advocacy is increasingly met with charges of intolerance and unwarranted accusations of bigotry.
We are Muslim scholars and preachers representing a diverse range of theological schools. Below is our collective, non-partisan articulation of Islam’s position on sexual and gender ethics. As a religious minority that frequently experiences bigotry and exclusion, we reject the notion that moral disagreement amounts to intolerance or incitement of violence. We affirm our right to express our beliefs while simultaneously recognizing our constitutional obligation to exist peacefully with those whose beliefs differ from ours.

We recognize that our moral code conflicts with the goals of LGBTQ proponents. We also acknowledge their constitutional right to live in peace and free from abuse. Nevertheless, we emphasize our God-given and constitutional rights to hold, live by, and promote our religious beliefs in the best manner (Quran, al-Naḥl: 125) without fear of legal reprisal or systematic marginalization. Peaceful coexistence does not necessitate agreement, acceptance, affirmation, promotion, or celebration. We refuse the false choice between succumbing to social pressures to adopt views contrary to our beliefs or facing unfounded charges of bigotry. Such coercive ultimatums undermine prospects for harmonious coexistence.

Know about which churches, institutions, groups are actively anti-Gay in North Texas.
Modern Islam bigoted and hating LGBT? Say it isn't so. The same religion that has women cover up hair to not tempt men too much. Name me a religion that does not use its made up authority to generate hate and oppression for any group they choose.
