Dallas bragging about stopping Gay Liberation
Though this article in D Magazine is some years in the past the legacy of their anti-Gay liberation views still shapes the Dallas Gay community.
Do you wonder why the Pride Parade used to be in September? Do you wonder why now the so-called Pride is held at Fair Park and away from the public and you have to pay to get in? Do you wonder why there doesn’t seem to be Gay liberation in Dallas and the “leadership” seems to be assimilationist and accommodating to the establishment?
This Nov. 1996 article at D Magazine where they brag how they kept Gay liberation out of Dallas is all that you need to know. They desperately crave respectability and straight approval.
