In their counseling they recommend a “therapist” to deal with same sex attraction. The New Homophobia doesn’t want to use the word homosexual, since they want to avoid the idea that there are homosexuals, there are just people with “unwanted same sex attraction.”
The Oak Hills Church recommends for counseling, Lee Preston for “Same Sex Attraction, Sexual Abuse, Sexual Additions, Families, Trauma.”

Max Lucado’s essay against same sex marriage.
The article was pulled offline, but using the Internet Archive I was able to locate it. This is what Lucado had to say in the article, “What God Says About Gay Marriage.”
The story of the creation of Eve in the Gensis is supposed to be a credible reason to not allow the government to have same-sex religion. Evangelicals are always a train wreck of disordered thinking.

Controversy over Lucado’s essay when invited to the National Cathedral
So in 2021 Lucado was invited to give a sermon at the National Cathedral. There was controversy, but he was allowed anyways to give the sermon. This should tell you have shallow and trivial the support of supposedly pro-Gay Christians are. I am sure they had some syrupy explanation for allowing him.
The apology non-apology.
This is an article on his apology, quoting:
In 2004 I preached a sermon on the topic of same-sex marriage. I now see that, in that sermon, I was disrespectful. I was hurtful. I wounded people in ways that were devastating. I should have done better. It grieves me that my words have hurt or been used to hurt the LGBTQ community. I apologize to you and I ask forgiveness of Christ.
Faithful people may disagree about what the Bible says about homosexuality, but we agree that God’s holy Word must never be used as a weapon to wound others. To be clear, I believe in the traditional biblical understanding of marriage, but I also believe in a God of unbounded grace and love. LGBTQ individuals and LGBTQ families must be respected and treated with love. They are beloved children of God because, they are made in the image and likeness of God.
Over centuries, the church has harmed LGBTQ people and their families, just as the church has harmed people on issues of race, gender, divorce, addiction, and so many other things. We must do better to serve and love one another.
He isn’t retracting his stance against same-sex marriage or that homosexual activity is a sin, he is just saysing he is sorry that people’s feelings are hurt.
Also, not that this is the strategy of the New Homophobia. Drown, your homophobia in sentimental syrups, maybe no one will taste the poison.

The Christians squishies called it an apology.
They did allow Lucado to give the sermon despite protests, with the usual mindless gushing rationalizations that supposed Christians friends of the LGBT are want to give. Always beware when you hear the expression, “teachable moment.”
For not giving a full hostile response to criticism over his article against same sex marriage, he was subjected to criticism by some elements of the Evangelicals. This will likely be held up as some defense of Lucado by Gay Christians and other squishy Christians.
Some thoughts
The history of the homophobia of Max Lucado is more than a story of the DMN omitting it, it is a story of how the supposed Christian friends of the LGBT really aren’t serious about our humanity.
