Letters asking the City of Dallas & Dallas County to stand against Ugandan hate of the LGBT.
My letters to the Dallas City Council and the Dallas County Commissioners asking them not to have dealings with the Ugandan Government and its affiliated organizations.

Introduction
For an event such as the Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) convention in Dallas and visiting Ugandan dignitaries and officials that the City of Dallas might extend a welcome, officials might meet with the UNAA leaders, attend their functions and events, as well meet with visiting Ugandan dignitaries and officials. This goes as well for Dallas County and other cities in Dallas County and the Dallas Fort Worth area.
Further, UNAA leaders and Ugandan officials and dignitaries might be welcomed to civil and cultural events.
Of course none of this should happen. The UNAA and the Ugandan government should be treated as pariahs as much as any visiting fascist government should be treated. [For information on the vicious homophobia of the Ugandan government go to the link for the background information at the end of this post.]
The letters I have written shouldn’t even have to be written, but I am writing them anyways. That is because without them being written elected officials will likely welcome the UNAA and attend their functions, as well welcome the officials and dignitaries of the Ugandan government.
Further, it will be instructive to the LGBT when despite being asked not to welcome the UNAA and the Ugandan dignitaries or attend their functions they do so anyways. It will make it clear how fragile or thin the support for the rights and humanity of the LGBT is.
I might not be the best letter writer and I welcome others writing letters and supplying me with copies to publish.
Finally, I ask citizens of Dallas to note who fails to speak up about the vicious murderous homophobia of Uganda.
Letters to Mayor Eric Johnson copied to the Dallas City Council.
I sent a letter to Mayor Eric Johnson right away to alert him and the Dallas City Council. I later sent Mayor Eric Johnson and the City Council another letter and a print out of the first Dallas Gay Liberation post on the UNAA convention.
The following are the letters.
This was the letter:
April 6, 2023
Edward H. Sebesta
Dallas, Texas
Mayor Eric Johnson
City of Dallas
1500 Marilla St.
Dallas, Texas 75201
Dear Hon. Johnson:
The government of Uganda is waging a vicious anti-Gay campaign.
The Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, issued this call “to save the world from homosexuality.”
The Ugandan legislature passed a murderous anti-Gay bill.
I am asking that the City of Dallas, yourself, and the members of the Dallas City Council not to have dealings with representatives, elected officials, diplomats, or agencies and associates of the Uganda government. They are worried about Western influence, maybe we should be worried about Ugandan influence.
1. The City of Dallas shouldn’t invite Ugandan officials and associates to the City of Dallas functions, boards, events, activities, ceremonies, or any other City of Dallas function.
2. The City of Dallas shouldn’t attend any functions or activities held by Ugandan officials or their associates.
3. The City of Dallas shouldn’t attend any function or activities where Ugandan officials or their associates have been invited.
4. The City of Dallas shouldn’t have any contractual dealings, financial or otherwise, with Ugandan officials or associates.
5. The City of Dallas shouldn’t give any awards or honors to Ugandan officials or their associates.
6. The City of Dallas shouldn’t invite Ugandan officials or their associates to City Hall or other Dallas property.
7. The City of Dallas shouldn’t engage in any activity which might aid the Ugandan government and associated groups.
Yourself and Dallas City Council members should also not engage in these activities.
The Ugandan government has an honorary consul in Dallas. He should not be involved with any City of Dallas activities as listed above.

The Ugandan North American Association is having their 35th annual convention in the City of Dallas Sept. 1st to 4th, 2023.
They get funding from the Ugandan government. They are in close relationship with the Ugandan government.
Finally, the City of Dallas should pass a resolution making it clear that they don’t support the murderous politics of Uganda, especially if the City of Dallas or its tourist bureau sought to bring this convention to Dallas.
Sincerely Yours,
Edward H. Sebesta

The following is the follow up information pack.
It has this cover letter.

Edward H. Sebesta
Dallas, Texas
Mayor Eric Johnson
Dallas City Hall
1500 Marilla St.
Dallas, Texas 75201
Dear Hon. Johnson:
Please find enclosed an information package about the persecution of Gays in Uganda, the recent passage of murderous legislation there, and the Ugandan North American Association allegiance to the homophobic values of the Ugandan government. They even have a video to express it. It is online at:
This page also has information on homosexuality and pre-colonial Africa which shows that homophobia is a colonial importation to Africa.
This is to support the letter that I had sent earlier to not provide support for the Ugandan convention, nor meet with visiting Ugandan officials or in other ways support this convention.
The following isn’t enclosed, but it shows a troubling vicious homophobia that is supportive of Uganda’s murderous homophobia. This is what would be accommodated if the City of Dallas is enabling of Ugandan homophobia. This is what could be invited into Dallas.
I encourage you to continue to read my Substack Dallas Gay Liberation as since I will be posting more information on Ugandan homophobia and the UNAA convention in Dallas. This will allow you to be informed and you won’t have to be like Texas State Senator Royce West saying you were confused or uninformed when you end up enabling Ugandan homophobia.
Sincerely yours,
Edward H. Sebesta

Letters to the Dallas County Commissioners.
This letter was longer and had the information of the two letters to Mayor Johnson combined.

What is next?
At this point people are being alerted and beginning to think what should be done. I will be writing some more letters asking for official support, writing up educational material in support of this campaign.
