If you break up a city every time you have a disagreement, you will likely end up with a city that is a half-block long. The destructive nature of having sections of cities being able to secede over any gripe can’t be overestimated. What lender would purchase bonds from a city likely to disintegrate over any gripe?
Though the fact that the Dallas Express is enthusiastic over secession is hardly surprising.
It is fairly clear that this breakaway city would not be a good place for the LGBT.

Texas Gay Republicans are resigning because of anti-Gay language being added to the Texas Republican Party Platform.
Matthew Patrick added the anti-Gay language to the platform.
Then, at the convention, the chairman of the platform committee added new language declaring homosexuality to be “an abnormal lifestyle choice.” The change was made late in the process, attendees said, less than an hour before debate on the platform wrapped up.
“It’s pretty self explanatory,” Chairman Matt Patrick of Dallas said when he offered the change last week. “It’s a lifestyle and it’s abnormal.” [Boldface added.]

I wasn’t able to track down which religious group Matthew Patrick was a member of, if someone can provide a source, I would be interested in that.
IT is astounding these closet cases still hate themselves so much they must use politics to hate others. I guess it is impossible for people to resist trying to inflict misery for NO reason on others.
