The right-wing is on the prowl on the Cedar Springs Strip and they are monitoring it.

Saturday’s show began around 2:30 p.m. and was hosted by drag performer Nicole O’Hara Munro. Roughly 30 people packed the relatively small bar to enjoy the show, which featured four other performers: Blue Valentine, Shasta Montana, Mayra D’Lorenzo, and Kylie O’Hara. They lip-synced to well-known songs and danced across the stage as those in attendance threw dollar bills.
However, I speculate the purpose was to let people know that drag shows are still occuring despite SB12 and to repeat the feminist anti-drag arguments. It is written as a neutral article, but I think it is to keep the issue before the right wing public.
The Dallas Express article repeats a feminist argument against drag and they provide this link to a report they had where the president of West Texas A&M suddenly disovered feminism to ban a drag show on his campus.

Drag is basically a satire of heterosexuality and gender roles.
The “Queer studies” establishment is willing to talk about the latter, but they don’t want to talk about the former. It would upset the neoliberal establishment. (Neoliberal and liberal are two very different things.)
There is this feminist and trans movement against drag which I reported on earlier.
They have been attending other shows at Mr. Misster earlier.
In “Drag Brunch Attendance Fizzles,” they again repeat the feminist anti-drag arguments. They speculate that the anti-drag law had dampened attendance.

This was an Aug. 27th article, “Some Drag Shows Empty, Canceled, Age Restricted.” This was about SB12 being passed and BuzzBrew having a show cancelled.

I don’t think the anti-drag campaign is going to stop with SB12.
Protect Texas Kids (PTK) is still active
They are still planning to protest the Texas Latino Pride Fest.

However, it seems that having shut down so many drag shows, PTK is getting desperate to find something to protest.
For example, the Southern Gourmet Kitchen has a drag show on Thursdays from 8pm to Midnight.
This is the post by PTK. The shows starts at 8pm, on a weekday. The children will be in bed. Also, nothing on the Southern Gourmet Kitchen webpage indicates that it is all ages.

The possible danger.
If kid friendly or all ages drag shows stop happening, PTK is faced with nothing to protest and oblivion. I think that they will be wanting something to campaign against. I think that they will be going after new targets. You can see with their planned protest against the Texas Latino Pride Fest where they are attacking mpox vaccinations, HIV testing, and what is being sold at the Pride festivals as new reasons to exclude children from Pride festivals.
However, Pride events are just going to be early June and in Sept. PTK won’t have anything else to do the other ten months.
PTK is likely looking for new reasons to go after the LGBT.
