East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) plan to build a major development they call EPIC city.
Yasir Qadhi is a major figure in this project. I am repeating this from the prior post as background.
Dallas Morning News, Feb. 24, 2025, “They dream of building Muslim-centric neighborhoods near Dallas. Will it work?”
The East Plano Islamic Center’s members hope the dream will materialize in EPIC City — a development of more than 1,000 homes, a K-12 faith-based school, a mosque, elderly and assisted living, apartments, clinics, retail shops, a community college and sports fields just outside the town of Josephine, about 40 minutes northeast of downtown Dallas.
“EPIC City is going to be a role model community of thousands of Muslims living well-integrated,” Yasir Qadhi, resident scholar at the East Plano Islamic Center, said while giving an update on the projects at EPIC this month. [Boldface added.]
This is a small town, and a town which is is inadviseable for Gays to visit and also it will be a town where young Gays will seek to escape.
This is the background info on EPIC’s homophobia. Yasir Qadhi is a major figure in their homophobic campaigns.
Dallas Morning News omitted any mention of homophobia in their article on EPIC City.

Repeating a section from the post on EPIC.
Los Angeles Times, Sept. 25, 2023, “As Muslims’ status as political punching bag fades, some are fighting against LGBTQ+ acceptance.”
That was in part spurred by an open letter that hundreds of American imams signed, titled “Navigating Differences,” a rare coming together of the biggest names in American Islam in an attempt to course-correct followers.
“We refuse the false choice between succumbing to social pressures to adopt views contrary to our beliefs or facing unfounded charges of bigotry,” the 1,289-word essay said.
Yasir Qadhi, a widely followed Islamic scholar who serves at the East Plano Islamic Center in Texas, was a lead writer of the notice.
“We have as Muslims been relatively quiet on LGBTQ topics because we thought there were bigger fish to fry, so to speak,” said Qadhi. “But then the issue was coming directly to our communities and involving schools and children.” [Boldface added.]
So this is the document, “Navigating Differences: Clarifying Sexual and Gender Ethics in Islam.”
We recognize that some religious groups have reinterpreted or revised religious doctrine to be inclusive of LGBTQ ideology. The Muslim community is not immune to such pressures. Indeed, some have attempted to reinterpret Islamic texts in favor of LGBTQ affirmation. We categorically reject such efforts as theologically indefensible because these aspects of sexual ethics fit within the category of immutable tenets and are therefore not subject to revision.
It was signed by Imam Nadim Bashir. After it was issued, people were invited to sign it.

The Times (London), April 11, 2017, “Hardline cleric is invited to UK by Islamic charity for fundraising tour.”
Yasir Qadhi, a Saudi-educated American academic, has been recorded apparently telling students that killing homosexuals and stoning adulterers was part of their religion. Dr Qadhi, who features in an eight-city tour starting this month, described Islamic punishments such as cutting off the hands of thieves as “very beneficial to society”. [Boldface added.
Article is also online as originally posted.
“Islamist Yasir Oadhi incites discrimination and violence.” Bitdefender says the link is unsafe. So I got the link to the webpage saved at the Internet Archive, following this link. However, the recording doesn’t have a statement about killing homosexuals. I did further research to get a confirmation of this statement.
American-born Yasir Qadhi has been recorded saying: “…definitely this is a part of our religion to stone the adulterer and to chop the head off of the sorcerer and so many other things, and to kill, by the way, the homosexual – this is also our religion. The fiqh rulings say that the homosexual is be killed, OK?”

The internet archive has this partial recording of his speech.
For those who have been around for a little bit longer than those who are eighteen or nineteen, look at how this own society and culture has evolved in the way it looks at homosexuals. In our own time, I remember as a kid in the eighties, which gives you an idea how old I was, growing up in the eighties I grew up, OK? I remember how homosexuals were looked down upon and the names that were given to these people, and how disgusted the average masses were with that segment of society. Now look, now look at how we have regressed, not progressed. Where it is impossible, forget a Muslim, even a Christian or a Jew can not stand up in public in front of a non-Muslim audience and speak against homosexuality, he is a homophobe, he is an evil person, how dare he preach his hatred against this group of people? A group of people by the way who were punished the likes of which no other nation has been punished. From the time of Adam until the Day of Judgement, no community, no group of people have been punished like the people of Lut have been punished.
What are we going to do when we’re facing a nation who keeps on changing its values? One day something is good, tomorrow it’s not good. How are you gonna defend, how are you gonna say hijab is good or bad when they themselves don’t have a steady command of what is good and bad? When good and evil evolves within their own society and culture. You can’t. You simply can not play the rule according to their games. You can not do it.

“Islamic Homophobia in the West: From Rhetoric to Violence,” has the author stating that Yasir Qadhi did state that homosexuals are to be killed. This is a publication you can download from George Washington University.
American preacher Yasir Qadhi made similar, if slightly more explicit comments: “this is a part of our religion...to kill, by the way, the homosexual. The fiqh rulings say that the homosexual be killed, OK? …This is all a part of our religion. This doesn’t mean we go and do this in America but I’m saying if we had an Islamic state we would do this.”
The article states that when Qadhi stated this he was a member of the Salafi, but has since renounced it.

Summary
Yasir Qadhi is clearly homophobic and any activity in which he is involved in should be a concern. He has a habit of saying things and then changing them after receiving public disapproval.
Qadhi should be considered a menace to Gays.
