Dallas Independent School District (DISD) in the cross-hairs. Homophobic campaign has been launched. Updates 1,2,3,4, 5.
The homophobic invasion of Dallas has been enabled by weak LGBT leadership and a City and County leadership that has been missing in action.
Subscriptions are free.
Update 2:
DISD participation in Dallas Pride Event targeted. The parade was Sunday, Sept. 17th.
Update 3:
Dallas Express ran an article about DISD being at the Pride Parade.
https://dallasexpress.com/education/video-pride-parade-features-dallas-isd-band/
Nextdoor banned the post, restored it.
The conversation stopped and even though the post isn’t hidden, it isn’t an ongoing discussion either.
Another case of Nextdoor bullying us has made news in a major SF Gay paper.
This is a developing story.
Nextdoor is headquartered in San Francisco and the San Francisco Human Rights Commission is going to issue a statement. We await the response of Nextdoor.
The Bay Area Reporter is the LGBT newspaper there.
We don't have a human rights commission in Dallas, but we do have excuses why we don't have one. I will put in the comments the article which Nextdoor banned.

Introduction
There isn’t much left for Protect Texas Kids to go after outside Dallas County and they have brought down a lot of drag shows in Dallas. Now they are going to be focusing on Dallas City, County government and the Dallas Independent School District. The Dallas Express supports Protect Texas Kids with their reporting. [Link to PTK background info at end of this report.]
Before we go on to discuss DISD, I want to point out the attack on City of Dallas support for LGBT by the Dallas Express is still ongoing. This is an updated post.
Attack on DISD
The title of this article is, “Dallas ISD’s LGBTQ Department Draws Scrutiny.”
https://dallasexpress.com/education/dallas-isds-lgbtq-department-draws-scrutiny/
Internet Archive link in case the Dallas Express decides to pull it. Sometimes the archive is a little slow to load. Give it a minute.
This is the department website which Dallas Express is examining.

On the DISD page is this logo which the Dallas Express is using for its article.
However, in this case it is the Texas Family Project which according to the Dallas Express, “is calling on Dallas Independent School District to ditch its LGBTQ Youth department.”
https://www.texasfamilyproject.com/
The opinions of the Texas Family Project are reported at the Texas Scorecard in this article, Aug. 7, 2023.

The Gay Straight Alliances in DISD are targeted.
To assist with the Out for Safe Schools training, Dallas ISD works to help campuses across the district establish Gay Straight Alliances. The GSAs will serve as the network for each campus to assist with the training for teachers and other faculty members on the campuses.
The Texas Scorecard attacks DISD for working with the Resource Center stating:
Dallas ISD is also partnered with an organization called the Resource Center, an LGBTQ advocacy group located in North Texas. The group provides youths ages 12-18 with multiple services, including “Queer Sex Ed” and “Gender Identity Night.” The center’s website also promotes Q Chat Space, a controversial live chatroom for LGBTQ youths ages 13-19, and an organization called DFW Trans Kids and Families, which affirms the sexual preferences of children as young as 6 years old.
The Texas Family Project is also going after pro-LGBT policies at the City of Dallas.

The Dallas Express article refers to the Texas Score Card article and the Dallas Express is also also is going after the Gay Straight Alliances which are now the Genders & Sexualities Alliance groups.
The Dallas Express quotes Brady Gray that parents should show up at school boards and demand that the programs for LGBT be shut down.
Of course, Protect Texas Kids wasn’t slow on taking up and supporting the Dallas Express article.

Update 1: Since the above post, PTK has done more posts. I will be adding them here as their campaign continues.

Posts about media, groups, and others are updated when new information becomes available.

Bennett supports the Christian Union according to the above article.

Some of the Christian Unions statements about Gays.
Affirming Marriage. Because God created the institution of marriage to reflect His glory in the union of one man and one woman in a lifelong and exclusive covenant commitment, we affirm the need to (1) uphold and promote marriage as the exclusive context for the expression of sexual intimacy and procreation, and (2) avoid all forms of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) as distortions of God’s design for marriage and sexual expression. He sues people who report on him. From the above article.
Bennett has rallied against criticism of the Express, suing two Dallas journalists, including Rogers and Steven Monacelli, who wrote in the Dallas Weekly that Bennett was running a “right-wing propaganda site.” In August, a judge dismissed Bennett’s claim against Monacelli, noting all the passages in question were protected statements of opinion or true.
Maybe the Party on the Block needs to stop for a moment and the LGBT in Dallas get active. Maybe it is time we get serious about defending our rights before it is too late.
Maybe we should have more than a dozen people down protesting Stedfast.
Maybe it is time the City of Dallas and Dallas County leadership stop twiddling their thumbs.
I got a letter from Dallas City Council Cara Mendelsohn, Dist. 12 which I will be reporting on. I am waiting for a FOIA request be responded to by the City of Dallas before I can make a full assessment.
I am behind on updating the Dallas Express post, but it has basic background info.
I don’t have background information posts on Texas Family Project and the Texas Score Card. When I get a chance I will put them there.

The math shows approximate 300 people voted, 200+ upvotes and about 100 people voted against us.
Update 4:
The Christians trying to push themselves into the school system will be mostly, if not nearly entirely, Evangelicals and other reactionary homophobic Christians. I think it is very likely they will be active to report on books of which they don’t approve, Gay-Straight Alliances, and monitor both students and teachers who are sympathetic to LGBT. As counselors they are likely to report LGBT students to their parents.

It is in the Internet Archive.
Update 5:
Protect Texas Kids has launched campaign to push chaplains into the schools. There is a link so you can call the DISD phone #. The following has a link to a post by Dallas Express to the Pride Parade following.
