Pro-LGBT church in Plano was trolled and later was firebombed.

This firebombing is still under investigation, if there is more news this post will be updated or there will be a new post with a link to it depending.

The Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano was firebombed in the middle of the night on July 23, 2023. Previously they were trolled and baited by a group who then posted a video “We acted LGBT at LGBT Church.” It was posted to YouTube on July 12, 2023 and by the time it was reported on by the Dallas Morning News on July 24, 2022 it had “nearly 200,000 views.” There is no proven connection between the YouTube video and the firebombing.

It might be that the person who firebombed the church was incited by what is being said at Stedfast Baptist Church in Cedar Hills, or some other anti-LGBT hating group.

What this firebombing shows that in a climate of inflammatory anti-LGBT rhetoric incitement as a threat is real. The City of Dallas Police Dept. needs a hate crimes unit and we need a human rights commission. Dallas County needs a human rights commission. [Links to post on these three topics at the end.]

Community UU Church of Plano on Instagram: “Firebomb Attack on July 23, 2023 at Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano On Sunday, July 23, 2023, between 12:00 am and 12:30 am, a firebomb attack took place at Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano. An incendiary device with a chemical accelerant was thrown or placed at the front doors of the main church building. The fire and smoke caused the monitored fire alarm system for the building to go off, which notified church personnel. The City of Plano 911 system received a call from a passerby who saw the fire at the same time. City of Plano Firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to extinguish the fire. Because of the quick action of Plano’s First Responders, the damage to the church property was limited to the front doors, the materials directly outside the front doors, and the entrance foyer. There were no injuries. Plano Police and Fire Department personnel did a thorough collection of evidence of the crime scene. They also interviewed multiple church personnel who arrived on-site to assess the incident. Church officials have been reviewing building security and working with the Plano Police Department since the intrusion of a hate group in the church building during and after Worship Service on Sunday, June 25. That group has posted video of their activities inside the church on various social media sites. We are humbled and uplifted by your overwhelming expressions of support. It brings great comfort to know we are held in loving care all over the United States and beyond. We are truly grateful. We do not have any more information regarding the incident at this time. The investigation by law enforcement authorities is ongoing. Once we can provide more details publicly, we will try our best to do so. We have been contacted by numerous media outlets, and we are aware that many news stories have been broadcast and published. As we recover and rebuild, we are focused on attending to the needs of the congregation, and church officials are not doing any media interviews at this time. This is their channel. They seem to be based in Tennesseee. Not sure why they were in Plano. Maybe they have moved to the DFW area, or maybe they were visiting. Don’t know.
