Against drag shows at Texas Universities
Dallas Morning News, March 14, 2025, “UT System schools won’t host drag shows, regent chairman says.”
Subtitle:
Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare said a University of Texas at Arlington event last month ran afoul of a recent Trump executive order.
From the article:
The University of Texas System signaled Friday that it would not permit drag performances on its campuses, announcing the move a day after the urging of Tarrant County’s top elected official.
In a letter to the system’s board of regents Thursday, Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare said a University of Texas at Arlington event last month that “prominently featured a drag performer” may have violated a recent executive order barring the use of federal funds for promoting “gender ideology.”
Texas Public Radio, March 14, 2025, “Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare urges UT System to ban drag shows on campuses.”
Dropping funding for Girls Inc.
Dallas Morning News, Oct. 4, 2023, “Tarrant County drops funding for Girls Inc., citing its support for LGBT, abortion rights.”
Girls Inc. applied for roughly $115,000 for its “Girl Power!” program, which focuses on self-esteem, stress management, healthy relationships and hygiene.
Opponents took aim at the organization’s national platform, which supports access to legal abortion and gay rights. The group also has been vocal about fighting systemic racism, and it accepts transgender girls in its programs.
O’Hare, along with the commission’s two other Republicans, Gary Fickes and Manny Ramirez, voted against funding Girls Inc. O’Hare said the county should not be directing money to “an organization that is so deeply ideological and encourages the children that they are teaching to go advocate for social change.”
Democrats need to understand that the excesses of transgender ideology will bring them, and the projects they support down.
Summary
The Gays in the Dallas Fort Worth area face a serious enemy and need to get serious.
