Joshua Whitfield of St. Ritas, shut the hell up. You aren't a moral voice, you are an agent of an evil homophobic force.
It is time to call out those who are enablers of Roman Catholic world wide bigotry aganst Gays.

Joshua Whitfield shut the hell up
What is involved here is a subtle and pernicious trashing of Gay rights and the humanity of homosexuals.
Being a member of a homophobic organization, in this case one that globally oppresses homosexuals, should disqualify a person from being a moral commentator.
A person who is a member of a homophobic religion which has been a major force in inflaming prejudice against homosexuals should certainly not be considered a commentator on the “moral middle.”
If a person was a member of a racist or anti-Semitic organization, they certainly wouldn’t be considered a moral voice on society. A pastor for a Christian Identity church, a church which calls non-white people, “mud people,” wouldn’t be considered a moral voice in society.
Yet, a priest of the Roman Catholic church which says homosexuality is a sin is considered a moral voice.
Let there be no rationalization in saying that this priest or that priest isn’t homophobic or is trying to change the church from the inside. Would we accept that as an excuse from a Klan member or a Nazi?
If your religion is homophobic it is a stupid religion and if you are a member, let alone holding a position, of that religion you have made it clear how important the humanity of the Gays are, that is to say you see it as trivial or nothing.
We as Gays should always see our humanity as important.
Members of homophobic religions are not moral voices.
This article, “Whitfield: I’m battling civic depression: Denizens of the city of God might help those of us who feel left out of politics,” in the Dallas Morning News is clearly a Christian nationalist viewpoint. In this article the Christians are put forth as the salvation to our current political situation.

Whifield writes dribble about Gays.
My uncle took my father’s place when my parents divorced.
I was nine when my mom’s younger brother filled the paternal gap. In those poor, stressful, single-parent years, he was our strength. He was a young man, bright and full of life, a gay man and HIV-positive. I loved him deeply because he was there when I needed him. That is, until he died, not yet 30.
…
But my uncle was beautiful too, and a Christian. How to make sense of it, holding together my traditional faith, my orthodoxy and Catholicism, and the experience of my gay uncle’s love? It’s one of the fundamental questions of my life, a tension that remains. For me, for whom only fully theological Christianity inspires anything like faith: How do I keep that faith and remain open to the goodness of people whose lives don’t fit the Catholic moral and theological mold? Can I be a traditional Christian and remain, for instance, in open charity to the experiences of others, especially those in the LGBTQ community? Is such even possible with any sort of integrity?
I think the answer here is that we must accept there are no easy answers, that things don’t fit, that some things in life we may never resolve or understand. I think the answer is that I must learn to live the truth that I don’t know, humbly accepting the possibility I may never know, and that knowing isn’t what matters most.
The answer is easy. If your religion is homophobic, it is a stupid religion.
The article is online also at his website.

The above rubbish was also an article in the Dallas Morning News.
Another answer is this.
The irrational logically incoherent Bible with all its murder and mayhem and intolerance is the problem for delulu Christians like Joshua Whitfield who want to babble sugary sentimental syrups and play the Christian holy man games. Whitfield would rather stab his uncle in the back that have to give up fentanyl Jesus and exist in the real world.
Historically Christianity is in free fall. Polls show that their homophobia is one major reasons. Homophobic Christians realize this. So they resort to various strategies to make somehow themselves seem both loving while being homophobic. This is the New Homophobia. So Whitfield wants to confuse the issue and misdirect the focus on some glorious spiritual agony and its silly games.

The bigotry of the Roman Catholic Church.
This highly polarized politics of today with the homophobia of the right-wing Christian nationalists owe a lot to the Roman Catholic church’s campaigns against Gays in the past and present.
Pope Francis recently was caught twice using a vile slur against Gay men.
First at one church event, reported here.
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/czrrexn0094o
In this article they are already coming up with excuses for him.
One of Italy’s largest newspapers, Corriere della Sera, quoted several unnamed bishops suggesting that the pope may not have been aware of how offensive the word is in Italian.
Vatican veteran reporter and author Gerry O’Connell also suggested that the pope’s remark was “a gaffe on the part of the pope, rather than a slur,” as a nonnative Italian speaker.
Of course there is an apology non-apology.
“The pope never intended to offend or express himself in homophobic terms, and he extends his apologies to those who were offended by the use of a term that was reported by others,” Bruni said.
It isn’t that he is apologizing for using the term, it is just for those who would find a homophobic slur offensive, he regrets them being offended. It implies that maybe they are too sensitive souls, since there are others who were supposedly not offended. What does this “reported by others” mean? Is it that it would be okay had it been kept a secret?
The Gay Catholics have already reduced this to a slip up or something and nothing really to be concerned about.
Then after all those excuses made for Pope Francis, he does it again in a “closed door” meeting which maybe wasn’t as closed as Francis thought it was.

Taiwan has gotten same-sex marriage as well as Thailand. Other East Asian nations are looking into it. However, the Philippines dominated by the Roman Catholic Church finds the hope for same sex marriage crushed.
From,” A Bond Between Man and Woman: Religiosity, Moral Foundations, and Same-Sex Marriage Attitudes in the Philippines,” Danielle P. Ochaoa, Christie P. Sio, Diwa Malaya Quinones, Eric Julian Manalastas, of the University of the Philippines Diliman. The first sentence of the abstract states:
Same-sex marriage in the Philippines remains a highly contentious issue due to the influence of religion in this predominantly Catholic country, where it is often framed as an issue of morality.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) issued a statement Sunday saying individuals should refuse to take part in ceremonies celebrating same-sex relationships and politicians should resist legalising marriages of homosexual couples.

The Roman Catholic church was very unhappy when the Indian Supreme Court struck down the colonial laws which had made homosexuality illegal. This is an article from the Union of Catholic Asian News.

This article documents homophobia in Ghana, and the Roman Catholic church is one of the churches which denounce Gays detailed in a section of this article.
Locally Catholic institutions and individuals rage against homosexuals.
The Univ. of Dallas is a focal point of homophobia.
This Univ. of Dallas professor compares same sex couples to witchcraft.
The Knights of Columbus have national anti-Gay organizations with a 48 page book against Gays and they are praised by Pope Francis.
Locally, nationally, globally the Roman Catholic Church persecutes Gays and yet the Dallas Morning News holds that Joshua Whitfield is a moral voice. That requires that the Dallas Morning News sees as trivial the humanity of Gays.
Let me say it again.
