Dear Hon. Johnson:
The Dallas Morning News published a July 27, 2024 article, “Here’s what’s happening on the old Pearl C. Anderson property,” written by the Elders of Watermark Church portraying their facility in South Dallas as beneficial to the community.
This article is obviously published to get support for their request for zoning code variances that they had requested for their center in South Dallas previously and which the City of Dallas had denied. The rejection was an article in the Dallas Morning News, Dec. 13, 2023, “City Council rejects Watermark Church’s rezoning request for South Dallas.”
Watermark Church runs a network for the so-called conversion “therapy” of LGBT which is national in scope. The following post reports on this network and documents it in detail. A printout is enclosed with this letter.

Surely the Dallas Morning News knows what the Watermark Church is up to. It is unlikely that any other major city has their major newspaper supporting a church which is actively conducting conversion therapy. Though historians write of Dallas as if its crazy days are in the past, it is obvious that they are in the present also.
I enclose a hard copy of the following post. Two of the authors in the July 24, 2024 Dallas Morning News article are creepy homophobes with an online record of their homophobia and the Watermark center in South Dallas supports organizations that have been in the news for their homophobia.

Netflix in 2021 just ran an expose of a church in the Dallas Fort Worth area running a conversion network, and here again we have Dallas in the forefront of crackpot Evangelical efforts against Gays. You can view the trailer here.

Conversion therapy isn’t their only homophobic activity. The following is a post which I had mailed to you an earlier letter asking that they not be given their zoning waivers and variances.

I ask again, that no special favors be granted to Watermark Church, no zoning variance or waivers be granted. I ask that they should be not aided in anyway and that no Dallas elected official give them support.
The fact that the Dallas Morning News is supporting a LGBT conversion “therapy” church is grounds in itself to state that Dallas is not safe for the LGBT. This recent action by the Dallas Morning News isn’t the only thing justifying Dallas being declared as being unsafe for Gays either. However, granting of Watermark any waiver or variance from the zoning codes, even though the City Council has been informed of their activities, certainly will augment the justification that the City of Dallas be given a designation as an unsafe city for the LGBT. It will be something that I will have to add to the following post, “Dallas is Unsafe for the LGBT. Visit at your own risk.”

Small Token Gestures Won’t Pink Wash Dallas
The post, “Dallas is Unsafe for the LGBT, Visit at your own risk,” has been reorganized and will be updated with additional information to show how really bad the situation in Dallas is for Gays.
If the code variances and waivers are granted Watermark church it will be an additional item to be added to that post.
I will be mailing copies of that posts to the LGBT chamber of commerce of many cities and the chamber of commerce of many cities. Being a cesspool of homophobic Christianity is not an attractive attribute to bring businesses or events to Dallas.
A city that caters to homophobia isn’t a city that caters to business.
Starting the campaign to ban conversion therapy in the City of Dallas and Dallas County.
