LGBT people elsewhere should be warned.
There are serious and significant hazards to the LGBT in Dallas.
These are not merely potential or hypothetical hazards, serious major bad things have happened to the LGBT in Dallas in the recent past.
The local leadership is either in denial of the situation, or have done things to materially worsen the safety of the LGBT in Dallas. Worse, the local leaders and the LGBT here might attack the victim of homophobia and justify their victimization.
Directory of hazards to the LGBT in Dallas
This directory is under construction. As I started to write this post, it mostly was about a few issues, and then as I started writing, I realized I had forgotten some other serious issues with the security of the LGBT was at risk. As I remembered things this post grew and grew. Even so, a couple days later, I remember something that was done by the Cathedral of Hope which seriously undermined the physical safety of the LGBT in Dallas. So this post is going to be even longer.
As a consequence it needs a directory.
It needs to have some order of the more serious things at the top of the list. So I am going to have to reorganize this post over the next week.
This is a temporary directory.
[1] Dallas Morning News aids and abets homophobic churches in the Dallas Fort-Worth area, including those churches supporting conversion “therapy.
[2] In 2010 the Club Baths in Dallas was raided and 11 men arrested. The police refuse to release the records.
[3] In July 2024 Crowne Plaza threw out 70 or more hotel guests out on the streets with only a couple hours warning. They were left on the streets with no hotel room. Local Gays were vorciferous in their attacks on the victims.
[4] Dallas has no Human Rights Commission, Fort Worth has had a Human Rights Commission since 1967. There is a Human Rights office in the city administration, but it isn’t a commission. They are employees of the city.
[5] The LGBT anti-discrimination ordinance is a sham. Worse yet, local leadership thinks it is adequate.
[6] When armed Nazis protested Cathedral of Hope and tried to provoke a conflict. The Dallas Police took an hour to effectively respond. The Cathedral of Hope accepted these excuses and justified them.
[7] In a 2011 Gay bashing, a Dallas Voice columnist had the victim at fault and came up with excuses for the gaybasher.
[8] The police review board is designed to be ineffectual.
[9] Self-hating Gay plea for tolerance at the 2024 Texas Republican Convention. This is the mentality of a sizeable portion of the Texas and Dallas community.
[10] When local Texas State Senator Royce West said he voted to the Texas anti-drag law by mistake, the Dallas LBGT leadership entirely supported his excuse.
[11] When the notorious homophobic 1st Baptist pastor W.A. Criswell died, Gay religious leaders praised him in the Dallas Voice.
[12] Dallas Gay leadership bragged about keeping Silence Equals Death and Stanley Kramer type activism out of Dallas.
[1] Dallas has a church which is the organizer of a conversion “therapy” network national in scope. Dallas Morning News has come to their aid.
This is where Gays are supposedly made un-Gay or learn to resist being Gay. This is the 2nd network we have found in the Dallas area. It is a church that is supported in its efforts by the local major newspaper.
Besides organizing a conversion network they are homophobic in other ways.
They have been asking for zoning ordinance variances for their South Dallas center from the City of Dallas and the City of Dallas has denied them.
We have asked the mayor of Dallas not to grant them any favors.
The Dallas Morning News, our local major newspaper, published this puff piece on their South Dallas center written by the Elders of Watermark. This is obviously to push for zoning code exemptions. The Dallas Morning News knows their agenda. Our major newspaper is supporting a conversion network.
The Dallas Morning News knows who these people are. They know what they do. This will augment another pipeline into their conversion therapy network. Also, Watermark wrote in the Dallas Morning News article of how they provide meeting spaces for other homophobic groups there, without mentioning that they are homophobic.
This isn’t the first time they have aided a homophobic group. They did an article which mislead people into believing the “He Gets Us,” campaign wasn’t homophobic.
The Dallas Morning News repeatedly writes about local Christian groups omitting their homophobia or actively misrepresenting them. I have a listing of their stories.
[2] We still don’t know who or what was behind the 2010 Raid on the Club baths.
The baths were raided in 2010 and eleven men were arrested. The local leadership is quietly letting this go down the memory hole. If you are victimized in Dallas, you can expect the local so-called leadership to want to pretend the victimization didn’t happen and to forget that it happened.
[3] Crowne Plaza throws Gay hotel guests out on the streets at 5pm in July 2024
They had reserved rooms and they were just expelled onto the streets with no place to go late in the day on a weekend. What was worse is the local Dallas Voice attacked the organizer on the basis of an ex-employee who was clearly disgruntled. The local Gay community attacked the organizer, the event, and the Gays attending. If you are victim in Dallas, the local Gays will attack you!
I have written Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson about this incident and asked that Visit Dallas, the group that the City of Dallas uses to promote Dallas Tourism not list the Crowne Plaza hotel.
I asked that the Dallas City Council Economic Develop Committee should hold a hearing on what happened, since tourism is part of their responsibility.
[4] Fort Worth has had a human rights commission since 1967, Dallas still doesn’t have one.
There is a Human Rights Office in the city administration, but there isn’t a commission.
If you are victimized, there will be no recourse for complaint. See article by clicking on link.
[5] The so-called LGBT anti-discrimination ordinance is a sham.
If you are discriminated against in Dallas, you really have no real or substantiative recourse.
What is also bad, is that the so-called LGBT “leadership” at the time thought this sham was a great accomplishment, and current LGBT “leadership” considers it adequate.
It is a reoccuring behavior that the Dallas LGBT “leadership” has no fight in them and won’t fight for the rights of the LGBT or hold up a triviality as a great accomplishment.
[6] When armed Nazis protested Cathedral of Hope and tried to provoke a conflict. The Dallas Police took an hour to effectively respond. The Cathedral of Hope accepted these excuses and justified them.
Armed Nazis showed up at the Cathedral of Hope at the entrance to the Cathedral’s parking and interfered and tried to provoke a conflict so they could be justified in using their guns.
The police responded to a call in 20 minutes, and then realized they needed more than one police car, and more police came 40 minutes later.
An imminent risk of a LGBT massacre, but it takes the Dallas Police Department an hour to respond. Excuses were made.
But what is worse, the Cathedral of Hope and others supported and justified these excuses.
If a Pulse or Q-Club situation seems to be developing in Dallas, well, don’t expect any quick response from the Dallas Police. They have been told that taking an hour in such a situation is okay.
This is the meeting where there was an excuse fest for the police slow response.
This is my letter of reprimand to the Cathdral of Hope.
A local church was firebombed because after they were trolled by a right winger. The danger isn’t just hypothetical.
[7] In this 2011 Dallas Voice article we learn that the war on terror and Osama Bin Laden somehow justifies assaulting a Gay man.
Columnist for Dallas Voice is sympathetic to the Gaybasher.
A marine assaulted at the Anatole hotel for a Gay Republican conventionat a bar from the story. From the article, “Lessons Learned,” by David Webb in the Dallas Voice.
Although police cited the suspect for an alleged Class C misdemeanor assault at the scene, the victim reportedly advised police the next day he would not be pressing charges after the suspect apologized to him. That in effect gave the suspect a pass for allegedly slamming the victim’s face on a bar table.
Webb suggests that perhaps it was an justified assault by starting the article with:
It’s hard to understand exactly what happened at a Dallas Hilton Anatole hotel bar last weekend when a Log Cabin Republican conventioneer was allegedly called a “faggot” and assaulted. Everyone involved seems to be engaging in high-gear damage control.
It seems that the police persuaded the victim to not persue charges which David Webb feels was a good thing. Officer Laura Martin who got the victim to drop charges was the same Laura Martin that defended the raid on the Club Baths, at the time of the article, a year ago, Fall 2010.
What is extraordinary about this development is that the police apparently acted as mediators between the victim and the suspect the day after the incident. The negotiations reportedly involved the Dallas Police Department’s liaison to the LGBT community, Laura Martin, who described the suspect as 27-year-old member of the U.S. Armed Services.
Then Webb decides to give the Dallas Gay community a “lesson.”
What’s more, we learned that the suspect might be a member of the U.S. Marines who was staying over at the Anatole after a tour in the Middle East. Ironically, all of this began coming to light just as reports circulated about the Marine Corps conducting seminars aimed at smoothing the way for gay men and lesbians to serve openly in the U.S. Armed Services.
….
On top of all that, we learned during the same weekend that U.S. Navy Seals had finally managed to take out Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind the al-Qaida attacks on the U.S. in 2001. It’s not exactly the best time to be criticizing a member of the military.
….
Likewise, the victim acknowledged being intoxicated.
Webb also explains.
On the other hand, members of the LGBT community need to be respectful of heterosexuals and be on guard not to offend anyone through their actions or words. With all of the gains the community has made in recent years, we are more recognizable and subject to more scrutiny and criticism.
With the end of the military’s anti-gay “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy quickly approaching, members of the U.S. Armed Services are likely to be more on edge and prone to taking offense.
Also, Webb reports:
Astonishingly, the victim took a real verbal beating in the comments sections of the Dallas Voice’s blog, Instant Tea, where the alleged assault was reported. It was interesting that so many LGBT people took the position that the victim deserved to not only be viciously assaulted, but to be humiliated in public as well.
If you are subjected to a Gay bashing in Dallas you can expect that the Dallas Gays will find every excuse to justify the assualt and viciously attack you.
Dallas is the capitol of the self-hating Gays.
Dallas Gays are always worried, “What will the straight people think?,” “What will my Baptist cousin think?”
The story is still online and it is saved in the Internet Archive.

I am sure there is more half-wit articles like this in the Dallas Voice, but I think one example should show you what the mentality of the Dallas Voice is.
This is why I call them the Dallas (Vichy) Voice.

[8] The police review board is designed to be ineffectual.
If you are abused by the police, or they let a gaybasher beat you up, the local board won’t be able to do much. There are no reports that when The Club Baths was raided in 2010 of anyone bothering with the police review board. The City of Dallas has refused to release records of the 2010 Bathhouse raid, so maybe someone did go, but I can’t get the records. This is a police depart that arrested eleven Gay men in 2010 in a raid and who reported being abusively treated.
[9] Texas for Gay Republican pleading for removal of an anti-Gay plank.
Excerpts from actual pleading in Texas for Gays which was posted at YouTube. Watching it I thought, “With friends like this, you don’t need enemies.”
Yes as I said I think it's a needlessly, uh, antagonistic toward a, a subset of voters and we're likely to turn them off.
I am a sinner. Sa[v]ed by grace through, through, through faith in Christ. [E]veryone here is also a sinner in need of a savior we are apparently here to to single out someone else's Behavior without listening our own.
[S]omething like 20% of J gen Z voters or gen Z generation is identifies as lgbtq and we are turning them away, basically saying you know don't vote for our party.
[I]f we're attacking them yes you homosexual acts are a choice but same sex attraction is often, you know, unwanted. [A] recent survey showed 94% of same sex attraction those with same sex attractions have prayed that God would take away their attraction. 94%. [D]o you really think that those having same sex attraction is a lifestyle choice to them. I don't. [Interruption.] many are celibate.” [Boldface added.]
You can read about the details here:
This abject pleading and the idea that somehow being homosexal is wrong, but should be pitied isn’t not uncommon here among Dallas Gays. If you are a victim, they will be straining their brains to find you in the wrong and justifiably victimized.
[10] When local Texas State Senator Royce West said he voted to the Texas anti-drag law by mistake, the Dallas LBGT leadership entirely supported his excuse.
Dallas LGBT leadership can’t bring themselves to criticize any elected leader if they can find some rational can be found to avoid criticizing authority. It is anathema for them to do anything but grovel.
Drag shows, one after another have been shut down. Drag is under siege in Dallas, and this supposed friend of the LGBT voted for the Texas anti-drag bill.
The whole sorry story of the Dallas LGBT triumphantly proclaiming that Royce West is really okay after voting for the anti-drag bill and saying it was a mistake.
The above is not all of the reports on the anti-drag war going on in North Texas.
[11] When the notorious homophobic 1st Baptist pastor W.A. Criswell died, Gay religious leaders praised him in the Dallas Voice.
This was a pastor who said AIDS was a punishment for “sodomy.” Vicious, but Dallas Gays found ways to praise him.
This post has excerpts from his horrific sermons, and also documents his racist defense of segregation and his attacks on John F. Kennedy.
[12] Dallas Gay leadership bragged out keeping Silence Equals Death and Stanley Kramer type activism out of Dallas.
Really creepy and though it is in 1996, that mentality is still very present. Click on the image to read.
